This practice has been accredited as being suitable for the training of those doctors intending to become general practitioners.
This means that the practice and doctors have had to achieve a number of standards which have been assessed by the GP Deanery for Kent, Surrey and Sussex, acting on behalf of the national organisation (the Postgraduate Medical Education Board)
These are some points for your information: -
GP Registrars will have their own appointment lists and are currently supervised by Dr Sherman at Anchor Field Surgery.
Both River Lodge Surgery hosts Foundation Year 2 (FY2) Doctors throughout the year. These doctors are qualified doctors and will have experience in several hospital specialities. The FY2 Doctors are based at the Practice for a four month period where they hold limited appointments for patients to book. They will only deal with acute problems, not complex issues. During these sessions, they are primarily supervised by Dr Brickley and Dr Dingelstad.
As part of their placement at the Practice, the FY2 Doctors need to be assessed on their consulting skills. This is done by the appointed assessors viewing a video of the registrar’s consultations. You may be asked for your permission to have your consultation recorded in this way. If you agree, you will need to give your written permission and there is a consent form available at the desk, which you will be offered. If the doctor appears to be recording your consultation and you have not signed a consent form, then you should indicate this to him or her immediately. The recording will be used for educational purposes only.
River Lodge & Ringmer Surgeries hosts Year 4 and 5 Medical Students throughout the year. The students shadow doctors in their clinics which are specifically set up with Medical Students in mind. Medical Students are supervised by Dr Butti at Anchor Field Surgery and Dr Dingelstad at River Lodge Surgery. Patients will be made aware at the time of booking their appointment that there will be a student present during their consultation.

The Receptionists and Secretaries provide an important link for patients with the practice and are your initial contact point for general enquiries. They can provide basic information on services and direct you to the right person depending on your health issue or query. The Receptionists and Secretaries make most of the patient appointments with the GPs and Nurses. They also perform other important tasks such as issuing repeat prescriptions and dealing with prescription enquiries, registering of patients, scanning patient documents on their medical records, typing referral letters, carrying out practice audits and many other administration tasks.
The Receptionists and Secretaries have also been trained as chaperones for patients during a consultation with the GP / Nurse, if it is requested.
